Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart

This book is just FUN (as long as your idea of fun is a super-dark, sometimes shockingly violent, psychological thriller). Told in a backwards format (it begins with Chapter 18 and ends with Chapter 1) Genuine Fraud is definitely a read-in-one-sitting kind of book and one that will have you on the edge of your seat.

As the story opens, Jule seems to be enjoying a fabulous solo vacay at a luxurious resort in Cabo. But things quickly don’t add up. She introduces herself to someone as Imogen and not long after, she’s on the run - paying the bartender to whisk her away from the resort and then disappearing to another country. As we follow Jule around the world, we learn what happened to her best friend, Imogen, and how Jule will go to any lengths (lying, violence, new identities, stealing, etc.) to achieve her goals. I love a book that has me rooting for the bad guy and that’s just what this one does. So. Much. Fun.
